I couldn't finish the book either, the thought that God planned every thing out in advance, why would he plan to have a child born, to live a hard short life of starvation? Couldn't wrap my mind around that line of reasoning.

well, a post from low-key lysmith on another topic got me thinking about the less than memorable food at the conventions and assemblies.
anyone have some thoughts to share?.
i missed the ham and cheese on rye-- it was one item that was actually pretty good.
The food wasn't the greatest at the DC, but our CA that was another story. Saturdays we would have veal parmsean, salad, mashed potatoes, veggie, dessert etc, or you could get hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, soup etc, and the desserts! They used to hand out pie plates at the bookstudys for the sisters to bake, and any leftover pies you could purchase on Sundays. The line ups were always long for those pies, plus the soft ice cream!
My hubby was in the Italian circuit, and their food was even better!

no doubt there are several faders on the board.
if your like me, you had been active, and had been recieving the magazines at the counter, every week.
then we start missing meetings, then disappear.
I wondered that myself. Just the other day I was cleaning out the bookcases etc, and was going through all my old mags. Back when we still had the subscriptions, we were not attending meetings, and there were alot of issues missing. We would get afew dropped off in the mailbox, but what happened to all the ones with our names and address on the labels? Things that make you go hhmmmm.
Now they don't leave them unless we answer the door. I never answer the door if I'm home alone, and if hubby is home I send him to the door.

ok there are so many americans on the map now i had to split you all in half.. valis was kind enough to let me place the maps on his website until i found a new home for them.. photobucket seems to be a good option - at least for now.
so i have uploaded the new maps which have been updated to include everyone who has asked.. so if you were wondering where we are from.
or how close you are to other jwd posters in your area just take a look.

every january, they read the letter as to where you'll be "assigned" for the convention and then the our kingdom ministry will detail all the do's and don'ts to remember.
was going to these things ever enjoyable to you?
Nope! Never liked them. It was ok when we went to Woodbine Racetrack, we usually sat outside on a blanket, watched the planes, played with cousins and friends. It sucked when it rained though. I remember one DC at London, Ontario, and it poured! We were soaked! Man I hated that. The only good things were we usually got new clothes. Standing in line sucked, the sandwiches sucked, the warm pop sucked. The danishes were good, and the frozen pudding was good too. Seeing friends was good, but as you got older/married and drifted apart, not much to talk about anymore, so that sucked too after a while.

an old age bethelite elder gives a special public talk at a kingdom hall and rambles on for some time.
after two hours, he mumbles, "sorry if i have gone over-time but i left my watch at home.
" an over-zealous ministerial servant in the front row stands up and says, "it's ok, there's a calendar behind you!
Running Man,
I remember those days! Our hall was close to the bethel, so he came quite often, and afterwards we'd have a lunch in the basement of the hall. Man, if it wasn't bad enough going to five meetings a week, we'd have another one to sit and listen to this old guy ramble on and on and on.......
It always seems to be the GB bros that go waaaayyy overtime. A couple of years ago at the DC when my nephew saw who was giving the closing prayer blurted out "oh man, not him, he talks too long" We all thought it was pretty funny!! lol

this poor fellow got in trouble with the watchtower society over copyright laws and got reprimanded.
instead of standing up for his rights, he just "kisses xxx.
" read his acquiescing response.. http://www.desinger.com/scriptures/conclusion.html
When I was an MS working behind the counter I received explicit instructions from the elders that I was not to distribute literature to people who were in the habit of not making "sufficient" donations.
HHMMM, maybe that's why it was so difficult for me to get literature for a while before I left??

Now that the New World Translation is online, I wonder how long it will take Silver or some other enterprising JW to simply create links to the Society's own web site for the scriptures?Better yet, they could create IFRAME's and source the stuff directly into their own pages, while still not "stealing" it.
He has his email address shown, anybody here able to give him instructions on how to do what was mentioned by AlmostAtheist?

well, after being out-of-town for nearly 2 months, i?ve decided i can no longer go to any meetings after returning home (not that i was going to that many beforehand).
i?m not sure what is happening to me, but i?ve actually developed an aversion to anything "watchtower!
" i cannot even read the literature, including current awake and watchtower magazines, without getting extremely nauseous!
I know exactly how you feel. With me it was even thinking about going to the meeting, I would literally get a panic attack. Just the thought of stepping through those doors sent me in a tizzy.

That's what I thought Kenneson,
Why not just use another translation? Doesn't make much sense to stop completely and close the web site when there are so many bible translations out there.
